TIME TO GET UP & GO TO WORK

Last night - Beastie Boys Gala Event at the Boston Opera House

The show was insane..

Hearing 'Egg Raid on Mojo' played full force in the Opera House was worth the price of admission alone..

We met up w/Tadpole & his crew before the show
(Sal G., Jayru & Justin)

They were hittin' hard w/the Resevoir Dogs style matching suits.
I kinda went w/the summer office intern look.

Show was a good mix of instrumental songs, songs that they maybe wouldn't normally play live
& some crowd favorites.

It was cool seeing Mr. Money Mark come out from behind the keyboards to strap on a guitar
& sing "Mark on the Bus"

Other highlites were "Live at PJ's" "Song for the Man" "Gratitude"
"Jimmy James" " So Whatcha Want" "Sure Shot" "14th St. Break" & pretty much the whole set...

Also, it was MCA's birthday & his daughter brought him out a cake, which was nice...

A non-musical note,
a person can get some nice fashion tips from the boys on this tour.

This photo is ©Michael Morel, he has some great shots from Sonar '07 here.
(hopefully he won't mind i posted it here)

I tried talking some photos at the show w/my cell phone, but it just wasn't working.

But yea, if the Gala Event rolls thru your town, def try to drop in...

SPRAYED SKUMBO

I stenciled up a Skumbo™ months ago for a show of customized Skumbos.
Well, after a few delays, the show is now up.

MCA.jpg
(The Evil Sprayed Slon)

'HIJACKED' presented by ddrprojects
features more than 50 artists who have customized a vinyl toy figure called “Skumbo.” This figure designed by Tristan Eaton and manufactured by urban toy giant Kidrobot didn’t sell well. So DDR Projects began buying up the dead stock and sent them out to artists, designers, illustrators and animators who turned the originally plain figures into extraordinary one-of-a-kind pieces.

Artists include Emek, Elizabeth Berdann, Doktor A, Matt Connelly, Kathie Olivas, David Krys, Jeremyville, Peskimo, Kenn Munk, Triclops, MCA and others.

Customizing vinyl toys is a natural offshoot of the urban toy or designer toy movement, which began in 1997 when Hong Kong artist and designer Michael Lau showed up at a toy convention with a handful of reconstructed GI Joes and collectible toys. Vinyl toys have never been the same since, as this movement has developed its own sub-culture with its heroes, rivalries and unlimited potential for growth.
